MicroReview Reguiation by 2 + in the Yersinia low - Ca "̂ response

چکیده
The Yersinia low-Ca^* response (LCR) is a reguiatory response in which a set of plasmid-borne operons is transcriptionaiiy regulated at 37 C in response to the presence or absence of mM concentrations of Ca^ .̂ LCR-reguiated operons encode secreted proteins with reguiatory and viruience roies as well as nonsecreted reguiatory proteins and components of the secretion machinery. Downregulation by Ca^* is imposed by a signaiimg cascade that includes secreted proteins and possibly also components of the secretion system and is hypothesized to act on membrane-bound inductive components. An important rote in LCR induction is played by LcrD, an innermembrane protein with homoiogues in several virulence-associated and flageiia assembly-reiated systems in diverse bacteriai species. The mechanism of signal transduction in response to Ca^* is not known, and the proteins that bind DNA to downregulate transcription have not been identified.

Influence of Na(+), dicarboxylic amino acids, and pH in modulating the low-calcium response of Yersinia pestis.
The virulence of yersiniae is promoted in part by shared approximately 70-kb plasmids (pCD in Yersinia pestis and pYV in enteropathogenic Yersinia pseudotuberculosis and Yersinia enterocolitica) that mediate a low-calcium response. This phenotype is characterized at 37 degrees C by either bacteriostasis in Ca(2+)-deficient medium with expression of pCD/pYV-encoded virulence effectors (Yops and ...
متن کاملLcrG, a secreted protein involved in negative regulation of the low-calcium response in Yersinia pestis.
The purpose of this study was to define the function of LcrG, the product of the first gene in the lcrGVHyopBD operon of the low-Ca(2+)-response (LCR) virulence plasmid of Yersinia pestis. We created a Y. pestis strain having an in-frame deletion in lcrG. This nonpolar mutant had an abnormal LCR growth phenotype: it was unable to grow at 37 degrees C in the presence of 2.5 mM Ca2+ ("Ca2+ blind"...

Background:Yersinia is a genus in the family Enterobacteriaceae that its species includeYersinia enterocolitica, Yersinia intermedia, Yersinia frederiksenii, and Yersinia kristensenii. Among these species, Yersinia enterocolitica is the most important one that causes various diseases such as gastroenteritis, mesenteric lymph...
متن کاملDiagnosis of Nutrient Imbalance in Wheat Plant by DRIS and PCA Approaches
The foliar diagnosis can be considered as a useful tool to assess the nutritional status of plants. The diagnosis and recommendation integrated system (DRIS) has been developed for this purpose. In this study DRIS norms were determined for wheat plant (Triticum aestivum L.) in the Moghan region, northwest of Iran. A data bank created from nutrients concentrations of flag leaf and yield was use...
متن کاملLcrD, a membrane-bound regulator of the Yersinia pestis low-calcium response.
Yersinia pestis, the etiologic agent of bubonic plague, contains a 75-kb virulence plasmid, called pCD1 in Y. pestis KIM. The low-Ca(2+)-response genes of Y. pestis regulate both bacterial growth and the expression of pCD1-encoded virulence determinants in response to temperature and the presence of Ca2+ or nucleotides. This study characterizes the nucleotide sequence and protein product of the...
